Jom Me-Rempit

23th - 29th March 2009

Piano nowadays are dominated by females. Guys c'mon lets rise up

On Tuesday I had my piano lessons as usual at the Vibrante School of Music, SS19. Normally before class starts my tutor would give me a few piano pieces & some music theories to practise on. Then during class she would evaluate my performance on what mistakes I have done & which part I should improve on. In addition these are the usual comments I always get;

Ms. Lian: Remember ar must improve on your dynamics.
Me: Ok ok

Ms. Lian: Need more practise ar, always remember which note to play.

Me: Ok ok

Ms Lian: Remember ar to count how many beats in a bar.

Me: Ok ok

Ms Lian: Your nails are too long, remember to cut it short you know.

Me: Forgot forgot, sorry sorry.

But this time things were different. I entered the class with full concentration, alertness & was able to perform with minimal mistakes. These are the few rare comments which she lavished;

Ms. Lian: Wah very good very good improve alot already you know which note to play now.
Me: Ok ok

Ms. Lian: Good this time you made few mistakes in your dynamics.

Me: Ok ok

Ms Lian: Well done good good you can count your beats correctly.

Me: Ok ok

Ms Lian: Next week I want you to perform like this ar, if can even better.

Me: Thank you thank you, I will I will.

After playing Facebook for quite some time, I decided why not expand my networks to Friendster. Before this Friendster used to be the next Big Thing after MySpace. I even have an old account there until it got hacked. Now I'm gonna make sure my new account is hack proof by applying strict security settings. However, I found out that Friendster is so quiet. It's like nobody is playing it anymore except for a few friends of mine who are still active in it. But God it's so dead in Friendster as if I'm like the main character in 'I Am Legend'. Where are the others man?

Notice the guy in the dark blue shirt? His name is Mark too!

On Wednesday my business studies lecturer, Mr. Suresh couldn't make it for class due to unknown reasons. So the first period was all mine to enjoy until my next period which is economics. At first I wanted to go home & sleep then only next day copy the notes from other friends who attended the second period class. I can't believe myself that I actually suggested this to one my classmate;

Me: Hey wana go home or not??? I damn lazy lah stay in class.
Sky: Ok lah come lets go.

I told Sky to go first because I wanted to complete some unfinished assignments. I thought he really went home but 10 minutes later he came back.

Friends: Hey why did you came back???
Sky: I insaf (regretted) already.

Wah usually I only feel guilty after doing something wrong, not during the process of doing something wrong. Eventually I reminded myself I gotta show a good example to others who look up to me. Preserve our integrity & accountability as Christians remember? In the end I decided not to skip class & stayed back.

Finally Phua Chu Kang is back & this time he's not acting in Singapore anymore but here in M'sia. His fictional company is no longer known as PCK Pte Ltd but currently its PCK Sdn Bhd. In the Singaporian version there are notable supporting characters like Chu Kang's brother, Anthony Phua Chu Beng (Pierre Png), his wife Margaret Phua (Tan Kheng Hua), their son Aloy (Marcus Ng), the grandmother Ah Ma (Neo Swee Lin) & Chu Kang's subordinates King Kong (Charlie Tan) & Ah Goon (Ray Kuan). In the M'sian version the familiar roles are only Phua Chu Kang (Gurmit Singh) & his wife Rosie (Irene Ang), while the other characters are made up of M'sian actors & actresses with local faces like Adibah Noor & Harith Iskandar. However, PCK Sdn Bhd can still make you laugh to tears & the M'sian comedians are not as bad as they perceived to be. I'm looking forward to this every week on Tuesday where you can catch him at NTV7, 8.30pm. Don't play pray!

One of my friend got robbed recently. I'm not surprised though regarding how dangerous & insecure the Subang area is. In fact I too was robbed for the first time in April 2007. My friend decided not to lodge a police report since it is pointless anyway. I agree with her because this was what the police responded to me when I called them back to see the fruits of their investigation after making a police report in 2007;

(Next few months later after the incident...)
Police: Siasatan sedang dijalankan.

(Next next few months later...)

Police: Siasatan masih sedang dijalankan.

(Next next next few months later equivalent to a year...)

Police: Siasatan masih sedang dijalankan buat selama-lamanya.

Ok the last one was a joke. But sadly, our police force is also a JOKE. So since I can't rely on them to protect me, I have no choice but to bring a baton along with me wherever I go on the streets. Lately I do still encountered robbers after the first incident but thanks to this baton I managed to fend them off my belongings. Just like what the bible says, "God will provide us our supplication but we must always be prepared for rainy days". Surprisingly all the incidents I've went through involves Mat Rempits. So if you share the same hatred for Mat Rempits just as me or probably you were robbed recently by Mat Rempits, here is a satire Q & A joke dedicated to these scums of the earth to cheer you up ^.-

Q: Two Mat Rempits jump off a cliff, who wins?
A: Society.

Q: Why Mat Rempits are like slinks?

A: They have no real purpose in life but it's great to watch one fall down a flight of stairs.

Q: Two Mat Rempits are in a car, who's driving it?

A: The policeman.

Q: What do you call a hundred Mat Rempits at the bottom of the river?

A: A good start.

Q: What do you call a Mat Rempit who passed his PMR?

A: A bloody liar.

Q: What do you say to a Mat Rempit with a job?

A: "Burger special satu".

Q: What do you call a Mat Rempit with half a brain?
A: Gifted.

Q: What do you call a Mat Rempit in college?

A: The janitor.

Q: What do you do if you bang over a Mat Rempit?

A: Reverse, just to make sure the bastard is dead.

Q: What do you say to a Mat Rempit with a fancy job?

A: "Big Mac punya set satu, besar".

Q: What are Mat Rempits allergic to?
A: Cops & the JPJ

Q: Where does a Mat Rempit usually spends his free time?
A: On a hospital bed.

Q: Will a Mat Rempit get pissed off if he read this?

A: No, because he can't read.

I feel so much better now x)

I seldom read autobiographies. But this woman's story has really touched my heart

Yvonne thinks my name is special. How sweet ^^

Anyway does anybody know who is Yvonne Foong Ming Niang? Sounds kinda familiar isn't it? That's because you probably read The Star newspaper before & come across her name several times. For those who don't know, Yvonne is actually a recipient of the 2005 Dream Malaysia Award. She received recognition
for her fight against a rare genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis Type 2, which caused tumours to grow randomly in her body including a brain tumour that affected her hearing and several along her spine that weakened her limbs. To make it short, she managed to remove most of the tumours inside her body, though not all of them are completely removed. As a result of her surgeries, not only she lost her hearing severely but also her mobility balance is unstable & now there is another tumour growing behind her right eye which is threatening to take away her eye sight if she does not receive medical attention soon. Since she is uninsured, she has to raise funds through the sales of her T-shirts, accessories & autobiography entitled 'I'm Not Sick, Just A Bit Unwell' by which she is the author. Friends I know some of you would post at your shout out box in Facebook "Plz help dis gal!!!" then posted her website link & that's it, hoping someone would eventually be kind enough to have pity on her. Wow that must be very noble of you spreading awareness to others that this poor girl actually has a website of her own. However, it is just not good enough, we need to do more than that. If you have money, why don't you spend it on Yvonne's merchandise instead & give her a chance to live a normal life with the sales profit allocated to her health care expenses. Apart from a Christian, I've done my part as a human being by buying one of her cap designs & book. What about you?

Damn! Sunday was a disastrous day for me. I was serving as an usher in church as usual. I was in charged of the hall steps & everything was going smoothly until Pastor Kevin started preaching his sermon. Along the way some guy tapped on my shoulder asking me for a pen so that he could write down what the Pastor is saying. Ok no problem why not. Then later another guy tapped me on the shoulder indicating that a lady next to him also needs a pen. Again I don't see this as a problem. Soon many more are raising up their hand giving me a sign that they also needed pen! That is when the problem arise. Since most their seats are far away from me, I have to walk towards their location & passed a pen to each of them. As I was walking here & there passing out the pen, my actions literally distracted Pastor & this made him upset. I didn't know it until it's time for performance evaluation. Initially Pastor told the whole usher team personally that he wasn't happy at what he saw. Oh my God just because of one small careless mistake I have put myself & the whole team in deep shit trouble. I wasn't there though during the evaluation because I have to leave the church earlier. I only knew what happen when my leader Felicia called me & this incident really dragged down my confidence to serve in the future. I really could have prevent this if only I...

1) Pass out the pen to people ONLY when Pastor instructs to do so.

2) Remain in my seat & ask the others to pass the pen to those who needed it to minimize distraction.

I failed to do both #1 & #2 which utterly brought shame to the usher ministry. I'm so sory it's all my fault that I let you guys down. Please forgive me.

But My Friends Got More A's Than Me Wor!!!

16th - 22nd March 09

Lately the SPM & STPM results are out recently. This is the time where you'll see in the front page of every major newspaper "Student Score 12, 15, or 20A's In SPM". I find it funny that only articles about SPM are published & I can hardly find any news related to STPM whatsoever. I guess it shows that the majority believed that SPM is way more popular than STPM despite the fact that the SPM standard is nothing compared to the STPM which according to rumours that the STPM is the 4th hardest examination in the world. Fuiyooh ~

Me: Good luck ya the SPM results will come out soon.
Friend A: Do you have to remind me??? I dah la so stress!!!
(Ehh...in a few days later...)

Me: What did you score for your STPM results???
Tan: I so disappointed la!!! (tells me the result)

Me: Ok mah overall CGPA is 3.08

Tan: But my friends got more A's than me wor!!!
(Haihz ~)

I met one of my seniors online, Tan Tuan Wern who scored a CGPA 3.08 in her STPM results. Now a score of 3.00 - 4.oo is already considered very good if you know what is CGPA in the first place. In fact scoring a 3.00 is my main target for this year upcoming STPM. I was about to congratulate Tan for her achievements but she complained that 3.00 wasn't good enough for her. What puzzles me that despite scoring excellent results whether it is PMR, SPM or whatever examination, students nowadays would still complain just because someone else scored better than them. Is this what education is all about? Its all about the A's that matters.

Me: Well the main reason you study is so that you can earn a better future, not to compete with your peers to see who can score the most A's.
(She never responded for the next 5 minutes, thinking the last message offended her)

Me: I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't lecture you & all, but I just want you to know that you did a great job & you should be proud of the hardwork you invested in.

Tan: It's ok, I understand now & yes you were right.
(Phew ~)

Eventually for the next 1 hour I was actually giving Tan alot of advice regarding her studies. She really doesn't have a clue what she want to do in the future. So I ask her why not study performing arts, since she's good & passionate in dancing anyway.

Tan: Hmm actually I really love dancing, but cannot cari makan la in this country.
(Again the typical M'sian response "Its impossible la especially here in M'sia")

Me: Do you remember what Mr. Suresh said??? (my business studies lecturer) All things are possible if only you believe in yourself. So if you can believe in yourself by achieving a good result for your STPM, surely you can also believe yourself in making it big 1 day in the dancing scene.

Tan: Wow!!! I never knew that!!!

I swear that wasn't what I intend to say at all. It was the Holy Spirit who guided me on how I should advise this person here so that she'll know how to make a good decision regarding her education. Tan actually reminded me of myself because I too was once like her. I share my story just to give her an example on how my life changed just because I believe in myself that one day I will achieve success in what I love to do, which is sports. Before this I really never thought it is possible to make a living with sports especially since the sports standard in M'sia is at a terrible state. That is until one day Pastor Kevin announced that the church is planning to set up a football academy & they are planning to send aspiring coaches for training at overseas starting next year. The way I see it God is actually giving me a chance to live up my dreams to have a career related to sports & now I must work hard to make that dream a reality. I hope my advice will persuade Tan to pursue her interest although she seemed convinced. I really felt she has a good potential in dancing & I do not want to see her do something else which she may not like & regret later in life. So Tan all the best in your future endeavors & I pray you will make the right the decision. In general Tan liked my encouragement & advice. She said something which really melted my heart.

Tan: I admire you. You clearly know what is your aim in life.
(Woah!!! I really love that statement. If only she said it in person ^^)

While I was online the other day, a friend called me on the phone. Actually I know this friend for 3 years although we seldom hangout together. I tried to ask her out before this but she always busy or she will FFK me last minute. The only memories I have with her is when I gave her a ride home from various places through my dad. Until this year recently I do still give her a ride home from a friend's house with my dad being the driver again (I have driving phobia what to do). I assumed the moment she called me I knew she wanted me to fetch her home again.

Friend B: Hi Marc it's me. Are you at home right now???
Me: No, I'm not.
(I lied just to test her reaction)

Friend B: Ooh ok bye.

Before I could even ask what was the reason (although I knew), she hung up on me! It goes to show all this time I wasn't really her friend, but more like her personal driver. But I wrote this not because I want to demeaned or badmouth about her, but to highlight what I learned in last Sunday's (15th March) sermon which is applicable to this situation. Pastor Kevin said that "But I tell you not to resist an evil person, that whoever slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other side to him also". Of course it doesn't simply means that when someone kick my right balls then I offer my left balls for him to kick as well (damn imagine if that really happens). In other words what Pastor meant that when someone took advantage of us, we should not seek to get revenge. When my friend hung up on me, I was very upset & wanted to call her back to get back at her. Immediately the Holy Spirit told to me chill out & memorized back what I had learned in church. In the end I refrained myself from calling her back & forgotten about her. After this if she ever calls me again, I won't lie saying that I'm not at home. Instead I'll just tell her to call a taxi because I do not want to send her but the fare will be on me x)

Although this week is school holidays for government schools, I still have to attend classes for mine is a tuition centre thus the students there are granted holiday(s) only when the management board sees it fit. So yeah I'm kinda jealous of those who are enjoying their holidays while I still gotta drag my ass to KL. However, on the bright side at least I am learning something new in class compared to government school students who are relaxing now. I was so stuck up with studies until I forgotten that I was one of the only few people who has to go for school this week. When I was back in CG during Thursday...

Me: So Fibiee how was school lately???
Fibiee: School??? I thought we're on holiday for the whole week???
(How can I be so blur...)

Speaking of CG, I met four lovely ladies who both claimed to be Boon Hock's friends. They both originated from the same church & they were visiting our CG as guests for the night. What surprised me is that most of this people came from Cheras & yet they can speak English fluently. Before this I was very judgemental of where people came from. For example, if you come from lets say the rural area, then I would assumed that you're generally narrow minded & have a poor command of English. In this case I stereotyped Cheras to be a place where mainly the people there are Chinese educated & likewise have a poor grasp in English. However these girls who visited my CG are different. Not only they speak English proficiently but they are also intelligent & open minded. I was very impressed by their spiritual maturity for they too share the same desire as me which is to excel in everything we do in the name of Christ. So in conclusion it is not necessarily where you came from that determines your chances of succeeding in life but it is how you bring yourself up as an individual.

I was on duty again as an usher during Sunday. I was extremely tired from the beginning till the end of the church service for I have not yet taken my breakfast. Most of the time while serving I lost concentration in my work & sometimes very restless. Petula who was my colleague has to remind me all the time to stay focus for I was prone to mistakes during that time like not closing the curtain entrance after people passing it by, not greeting members before service commences, constantly yawning loudly & etc. After cleaning up the church hall after service, I thought I was finally free & was able to go home & fulfill my sleep debts. Then I saw my CG leader Felicia who happens to be the Head Usher as well. I wanted to congratulate her for the speech she gave about tithes & offerings during service because she spoke with great charisma & grammar errors to the minimal. She thank me for it & ask whether if I'm going to attend the workshop specially catered for ushers later which by coincidence she'll be giving a talk in it too. I said no & she was unhappy about it because it is compulsory for all ushers to attend the workshop & there are no exceptions for pity excuses. I tried to negotiate with her but in the end I failed to convince her & I have no choice but to attend the workshop. So I had a quick snack with her at Medan after a performance evaluation from Teh then I went back to the church's education centre. Apparently the workshop was not all as boring as I expected. It was somewhat interesting & informative on how we ushers can improve ourselves when serving. Eventually at the end of the workshop we celebrated Dennis, Teh, Foong Yen & Allen's birthdays who shared the same birth month of March.

I really wanted to just fall on my bed once I reached home, I really do. On the contrary I still have one more activity to do, which is futsal. I treat this event as very important because I'll be playing with Abel as well as Pastor Keith. These are the people who are in charge of the football academy which is proposed to be set up starting next year. Whether I will be sent to overseas to undergo training as a prospective coach will be decided by them. That is why I must go & play futsal to build up my relationship & affiliation with these guys. We played at Sunway Xtreme Park opposite of Lagoon Perdana. It was bloody hot & humid during that moment. There is one time where I was playing against Pastor & he shot the ball against my hand which is considered a foul committed by me. It happened very fast so it wasn't that clear whether it was a handball or not (although I myself knew). I lied claiming that the ball hit my stomach instead of my hand so we played on. After a while we rested & Pastor approached me saying that I shouldn't lie just because I wanted the situation to favour my side. He did not confront me but he address the problem to me in a gentle way. I didn't took his words seriously & refused to apologize until we continued on playing. During the game I deliberately scored an own goal although my intentions were to pass back to the keeper. After that we went on to lose the game. At the end of the game, I saw Pastor smiling at me & he knew I got what I deserved for being an dishonest person;

Me: Alright, alright!!! Consider that own goal as my punishment for lying.
Pastor: Haha!!!
(I'm glad he took it with humour)

Be it how small or big a sin can be, we must preserve our integrity & accountability as Christians.

Of All The Things To Do With My Free time

Yeah since I got nothing better else to do why not burn up time by blogging. Basically I will create a new post weekly on events that happened from Monday to Sunday. Most of you might ask why did I named my blog 'The Knowledgeable Warrior'. Simply because that is the meaning of my name in Chinese which is also pronounced as 'Wu Wen Hao' in pingyin (I think so). I find it pretty cool & unique regardless the fact that I'm a Chinese 'banana'. In English the name 'Marc' refers to either a general or a warlord. I hold a great sense of pride in my name because that is how I want to live my life as, a conqueror in everything I do particularly in soccer.

Thanks to my Chinese speaking friends in school who taught me how to write my own name in Mandarin. Xie xie ni x)
